You´re quite literally embraced by nature with open spaces that drip with tropical leaves and a beautiful garden just waiting to get lost in. We realized the property is essentially a private art gallery! Displaying the life´s work of well-known artist-owner Elizabeth Steinvorth and her local artist-friends.
Walk straight onto the beach to get the sand between your toes beneath swaying palms or jump on a bicycle and you can be in buzzing Puerto Viejo in 10 minutes. Tranquil, artistic, and well located – we loved Aguas Claras!

Aguas Claras Puerto Viejo is part of The Cayuga Collection, a group of award-winning sustainable hotels found in incredible locations.
With a strong belief that sustainable hospitality is born from the concept of locality, the Costa Rican staff members are mainly hired from the local area, with investment made in their training and professional development, as well as accessible healthcare. The hotel´s products are sourced from close to home, including food produce, minibar stock, bathroom amenities, and gift shop items.
Every month, staff volunteer to clean up nature trails at Cahuita National Park and carry out daily cleaning of the beach in front of the hotel. On property, solar energy heats water for guest use, food miles are kept low thanks to local providers, and single-use plastic is nowhere to be seen. Guests can take a back-of-the-house tour to see this model of sustainable hospitality for themselves!
With a rural location in Costa Rica, many schools have limited resources. Using the generous donations from guests, Aguas Claras supports Manzanillo school by providing infrastructure and educational programs.
