Origins employs an impact team to implement, measure, and monitor projects and initiatives that focus on the sustainable conservation of wildlife and wilderness areas. This comes from an understanding that operating in pristine natural locations comes with a responsibility to the planet and local communities. The hotel was carefully designed to remove a minimal amount of dirt and trees during construction and include the use of sustainable structural bamboo, adobe walls for humidity control, recycled bottles layered under the guest bungalows’ floors, floating roofs on the guest villas to provide natural air conditioning, and living plant roofs on the bungalows. Several types of plants were also introduced to increase local vegetation by 75% and visually integrate the grounds with the surrounding wild jungle. Clever techniques utilized for eco-friendly operations including gravity water pumps that don’t need electricity, solar water heaters, firepit-heated jacuzzis, and the creation of a wastewater treatment plant. Origins features organic and edible gardens, seedling nurseries, locally handmade guest amenities, and hyper-local, sustainably sourced produce for its restaurant´s cuisine.
